Profile

Development of novel neuroprotective compounds effective for different neurodegenerative diseases/Oxidative and ER stress are commonly involved in the neuronal cell death in various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Age-related decline in various neurotrophic factors which are essential for the neuronal survival and maintenance may be related to neuronal cell death. We develop newly synthesized neuroprotective compounds which protect neuronal cells from multiple stress including oxidative and ER stress, and dual-functional neuroprotective compounds which have neuroprotective and neurotrophic factor-producing activities.
